--- Version 3.2 of popular screened proofing system halves print times for 200lpi proofs and supports remote printing--- HONG KONG -- 13th March 2003 -- Compose System, a leading developer of prepress workflow and proofing solutions, today announced the release of Star Proof 3.2, a major upgrade to the company's Mac OS X application for producing contract quality screened proofs on inkjet printers. Star Proof 3.2 incorporates a new resampling engine, Actual Dot 2, which halves print times when producing screened proofs up to 200lpi. Tuned to take advantage of Epson VSDT-capable printers such as the Stylus Pro 10600, Actual Dot 2 analyzes the dot patterns of original screened separations and reproduces them at proofing printer resolutions. Setting a new standard for screened inkjet proofing, Star Proof with Actual Dot 2 can now produce contract quality proofs up to 200lpi on printers running at 1440lpi by 720 lpi. Compose has also announced the first release of Star Proof Remote Print Station, which enables simultaneous proofing on multiple remote or local printers. Star Proof Remote Print Station is a dedicated FTP server with broadband connectivity running on Mac OS X. Taking print files via internet from a remote or local Star Proof station, Remote Print Station decompresses the incoming proofs before delivering them to its local proofing printer.
