Compose Ship Faster RIPS with support for Harlequin Eclipse Release
--- 32-bit PLX driver cards for ExpressRIP and ColorExpress increase throughput and provide support for Dolev V2 and V3 interfaces ---
WALTON-ON-THAMES, UK -- 7th April 2003 -- Compose® System, a leading developer of prepress workflow and proofing solutions, today announced the release of major improvements in performance and functionality for the company's range of RIP products. The enhanced RIPs are available for immediate customer shipments and until May 31st 2003 all purchases of Express RIP and ColorExpress will include the in-RIP trapping option, TrapProLite, free of charge.
The new RIPs are the result of extensive development activity in two areas. The first is the upgrade of all output interface cards to incorporate a 32-bit PLX processor giving faster delivery of data and handling of RIP and printer interaction. A first for Harlequin RIP VARs, the Compose Express RIP imagesetter drivers are now of sufficiently high performance to support V2 and V3 interfaces for the Creo Scitex Dolev.
Of equal significance is the incorporation into Express RIP and ColorExpress of Global Graphics® Eclipse Release, version 6 of the Harlequin® RIP. The new RIP software provides enhanced PDF support for PDF 1.4, including transparency, referenced PDF, encryption, RGB output and JBIG2 for high-compression of single-bit images and professional production PDF/X-1a:2001 and PDF/X-3:2002 standards. A second major feature of the new RIP is its 'best-in-class' in-RIP trapping solution, TrapPro, which is capable of supporting multiple digital workflows with handling of sliding traps, narrowed traps, mitre ends and joins, feathered/anamorphic traps, and automatic small object protection. Colour control has also been improved with the introduction of the SetGoldPro, ColorProand ProofReady Plugins. The new version of RIP software introduces support for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows® XP® with Eclipse, in addition to Mac OS 8.5/9, Windows 98/ME/NT/2000 and other Unix® platforms.
